Yet another retaining wall project
Part 1
When we moved to the new house we knew this particular retaining wall would need to be repaired-or replaced. It was leaning out quite a bit due to the runoff from my next door neighbor’s gravel parking area. The constant runoff had caused the dirt to slowly slide into the wall, pushing it out.
I had put off fixing the structure last year with the construction of the workshop and all the additional projects that went along with it. So now I put it on my overly ambitious schedule for 2026.
Then came the biblical rain in November 2025. Four inches on frozen ground in just a short time. In a matter of hours the wall gave up the ghost.

So this became my first major outdoor project of 2026. By I first had to solve some other issues such as keeping the water from coming down the hill. It would be foolish to put up a new wall and have it end up in the driveway again after a heavy rain. So I came up with a plan.
